HIDDEN TREASURES
Former
California Governor, Jerry Brown joined
JHV in celebrating the GRAND OPENING
of JHV Hidden Treasures, the only
nonprofit, upscale, resale boutique in the Lancaster/Palmdale,
California-area operated by volunteers.
The
event marked the culmination of months of hard work and dedication
of select JHV members including Executive
Director, Marcella Leach, Resale Shop Director, Marguerite
Hemphill, her husband, Bill and many others.
Also
on hand at the event were Los Angeles County Deputy District
Attorney, Steve Ipsen and a slew of onlookers eager for the
ribbon-cutting to take place so they could browse the 2,000
sq-foot shop and partake in this truly momentous occasion.
Flanked
by supporters, staff, JHV members and a
crowd of about 200, the former Governor cut the ribbon -
which officially welcomed JHV to the Antelope
Valley. Representatives of the Antelope Valley Chambers
of Commerce were also in attendance.
The
event was kicked off with speeches, a buffet-style luncheon
and silent auctions on August 20th. Many local businesses
& citizens donated items for the festivities which were
coordinated through volunteers.
The
mission of JHV to bring guidance, support
and education to the community is clearly visible. JHV
plans for the nonprofit, resale shop to raise funds which
will help the many families and friends who have lost a loved-one
to homicide.
JHV
wishes to extend a grand THANK YOU
to everyone who helped to make this celebration a success.
Your hard work and dedication will truly make a difference!
